About the Norfolk Island Cattle Register

Purpose

This “Norfolk Island” Cattle Register exists to encourage the improved production and development of ALL Norfolk Island cattle, as well as making publicly available, the genetic breeding records of the Norfolk Blue heritage herd. For those who now have management of the Blues bred by Jap and Robyn, the Register provides information to assist with future breeding programs. The Register enables all Norfolk Island cattle breeders to maintain their own genetic records, regardless of breed, and can be used for ANY breed of cattle by breeders on Norfolk Island; who can choose which of their records are made public and which are kept private (for personal use only). All known bull genetics have been included in the Register records, including those of semen and embryos used during the Island wide 2024 breeding program as provided by Jack Laurie. If a cattle breeder has “borrowed” a bull, they can simply select that bull when entering data for new progeny. Breeders will be able to access personalised reports and enjoy other benefits.
